🇺🇸 ‘NO’: A SMALL WORD WITH A HUGE IMPACT IN OUR RELATIONSHIPS

Why is saying "no" so hard? It’s a very small word, but when we say it, it has a huge impact in our daily lives, because we are afraid of being rejected or having our personal relationships affected. However, exercising the right to say "no" to whatever upsets us can relief this burden and value us as wives, mothers, friends, and professionals. When we put an end to what is not making us any good by saying "no" loud and clear, we are respecting ourselves and taking care of our mental health.

🇧🇷 ‘NÃO’: PALAVRA PEQUENA COM UM PESO IMENSO EM NOSSAS RELAÇÕES

Por que dizer “não” é tão difícil? A palavra é pequena, mas falar “não” no nosso dia a dia tem um peso enorme. Isso porque temos medo da rejeição e de afetar as nossas relações pessoais. Porém, exercer o direito de dizer “não” diante do que nos aflige é libertador e nos valoriza como esposas, mães, amigas e profissionais. Em várias situações em que colocamos um fim ao que nos faz mal dizendo um sonoro “não”, estamos nos respeitando e cuidando de nossa saúde mental.

🇺🇸 Why do other people’s opinions interfere so much on our behavior? We often make decisions and shape our way of living based on what other people think of us, mostly because we want to be accepted and embraced by others. We are also driven by the fear of not being admired by others. Changing our way of thinking by confronting other people’s expectations may be the first step to act according to our true desires. By thinking about our desires and doing what we really want, we will undoubtedly be paving the way for our self-appreciation.

🇧🇷 A OPINIÃO ALHEIA PAUTA SUAS VONTADES?

Por que a opinião dos outros interfere tanto no seu comportamento? Não são poucas as vezes em que tomamos decisões e pautamos o nosso jeito de ser a partir do que outras pessoas pensam de nós. Na maioria das situações, agimos assim em busca de aceitação e acolhimento. Também somos levados pelo medo da apreciação alheia. Modificar nossa maneira de pensar, confrontando as expectativas do outro, pode ser o primeiro passo para agirmos de acordo com nossos anseios. Refletindo e exercendo nossas vontades estaremos, sem dúvida, pavimentando um caminho para a nossa valorização.

🇺🇸 LESS SELF-CRITICISM AND MORE SELF-COMPASSION

Sometimes self-criticism can undermine our strength. Whether at work or at home, when our children are around, we are haunted by many thoughts, like: "Am I doing my best as a professional and as a mother?" or "I think I’m not spending enough time with my spouse". These are two recurring issues from an immense list of self-demands that often come to our minds. Certainly, we should always think about what bothers us, but it is important to keep in mind that we should not be so critical and perfectionist to ourselves, and stop being limitless about everything we do and putting the world on our shoulders. We need to deal with our failures and difficulties with self-compassion, writing our own stories, and allowing this plot we write every day to be loving and understanding.

How about stop being so self-demanding on everything you do? Let’s talk about it?

🇧🇷 MENOS COBRANÇA E MAIS AUTOCOMPAIXÃO

Há momentos em que a autocobrança mina as nossas forças. Seja no trabalho ou em casa, com nossos filhos por perto, somos assaltadas por uma infinidade de pensamentos. “Será que estou fazendo o meu melhor como profissional e como mãe?”; “por que ando dedicando tão pouco tempo ao meu casamento?”. Estes são dois questionamentos recorrentes de uma lista imensa de demandas. Sem dúvida, devemos sempre refletir sobre o que nos incomoda. Mas é importante ter em mente que não devemos ser tão críticas, tão perfeccionistas, tão ilimitadas em tudo o que fazemos no dia a dia. Precisamos, sim, ter autocompaixão diante de nossas falhas e dificuldades. Necessitamos ser líderes de nossas próprias histórias. E que este enredo que construímos no dia a dia seja amoroso e repleto de compreensão.

🇺🇲 INNER BEAUTY TREATMENT

What does it mean to be beautiful? Every day, the beauty standards imposed by society and reflected on social media seem to tell us: "this is the best hair color for you", "your nails must be long", "thin body is the perfect one". Instead, beauty is the brightness that outshines any stereotype. To be beautiful is adopting behaviors that lift up your qualities and value your life experiences. To be beautiful means living each day to the fullest, focused on being happy and fulfilled.

How about starting an inner "beauty treatment"?

O que é ser bonita? A todo instante, os padrões de beleza que se impõem como espelhos nas redes sociais parecem nos dizer: “esta é a cor de cabelo que você precisa usar”; “suas unhas devem ser longas”; “o corpo magro é o corpo perfeito”. Beleza, na verdade, é o brilho que ofusca os estereótipos. Ser bonita é assumir comportamentos que exaltem suas qualidades e valorizem suas vivências. 🇺🇸 A BRIDGE OVER THE ABYSS OF DIFFERENCES

Personally and professionally, men and women face different demands, and have different ways of performing tasks, as well as of experiencing relationships. However, those differences between gender don’t need to be so strict. To overcome the abyss of differences, men and women need to reflect on their roles, always making room for honest conversations, understanding each other, and sharing feelings honestly. Only then we can build bridges over the abysses to connect men and women through mutual respect and growth.

How about we open ourselves up to a broader dialogue about this?

🇧🇷 UMA PONTE SOBRE O ABISMO DAS DIFERENÇAS

A diferença entre homens e mulheres precisa ser tão rígida assim? Não, não precisa. Na vida afetiva e profissional de homens e mulheres há diferentes cobranças, diferentes maneiras de realizar tarefas e jeitos muito diversos na forma de conviver e encarar os relacionamentos. Mas se pretendem transpor o abismo das diferenças, homens e mulheres precisam refletir sobre seus papéis e buscar sempre o diálogo franco, a compreensão, a partilha sincera de sentimentos. Só assim criaremos pontes sobre os abismos para conectar homens e mulheres pelo respeito e o crescimento mútuo.

🇺🇸 LIFE CALLS FOR RECONCILIATION AND CALMNESS

How can we reconcile relationships, children, and work? Most women probably have already talked about this with each other. Literally, "to reconcile" means "to coexist in harmony" or "to make oneself no longer opposed". However, reconciliation is something we need to practice, as an inner work, focusing on our needs and wishes. Rearranging life, setting a limit for your working hours, sharing tasks at home and at work, enjoying the free time with your loved one, not being overly critical to yourself and learning to say no, whenever necessary, are good steps towards reconciliation. Do you know the word "reconcile" has another meaning? It can also mean "to be peaceful”.

🇧🇷 A VIDA PEDE CONCILIAÇÃO E TRANQUILIDADE

Como conciliar relacionamentos, filhos e trabalho? Pelo menos uma vez, esta pergunta esteve na roda de conversa da maioria das mulheres. Ao pé da letra, “conciliar” significa “estabelecer acordo entre pessoas” ou “entrar em acordo com alguém”. Mas a conciliação precisa ser um exercício interno, com foco em nossas necessidades e vontades. Reorganizar a vida, estabelecendo horários definidos para a atividade profissional, dividir tarefas em casa e no trabalho, usufruir o tempo livre para namorar, cobrar-se menos e aprender a dizer não, sempre que necessário, são boas medidas na direção desta conciliação. Sabe qual é o outro significado da palavra “conciliar”? É “ficar em paz, tranquilizar-se”.
